Are you making the most of your Facebook cover photo?

Updating your Facebook cover photo is a quick and easy way to get noticed. Every time you update it, it will not only appear in your fans news feed, but also be seen by their friends and family - AKA potential customers.

Use it to showcase your products and services or any events or promotions you have coming up.

Creating your cover photo is fairly easy and to make it even easier I have designed a template for you to use.  The latest layout from Facebook has your profile picture, company name and links all covering part of your graphic so I have highlighted these on the template to ensure it doesn't get in the way of your message.

Some things to be aware of...

  • Keep your photo clean and simple. If there is too much text or the photo is too busy it can look unprofessional and have a negative effect on your brand. Most people don't like to read so aim to get your message across in as few words as possible.

  • Add a photo description when updating your image. Provide any relevant information such as your store address, a link to your website or a call to action.

  • Don't forget your branding. Remember this photo will appear in news feeds so use your logo on the image.

Hint: If you use your company logo as your profile picture, consider putting the logo behind this so it isn't duplicated on your business page. See the example below of the Edible Blooms Facebook page. (Please note, the cake pop offer has expired).
